ACOVAN Language Services Inc. was founded by Tom Curry and Yihua Chen as a spin off from their other business, A+ Academic Writing Workshops, a small private tutorial business in Vancouver, Canada. Tom and Yihua first conceived of the  application, now called COMARKER™, to share comments with the markers working for A+, and for them to share comments with each other. It was a natural step to imagine the program reaching out to markers in general. After struggling for a year to develop a prototype based in MS WORD, Yihua and Tom met Owen Ingraham and hired him first to finish the prototype, which had been botched by a previous programmer. Since finishing the program’s core code, the team has hired Tatiana Malysheva to work with ActionScript on the Flex front-end. Michael Kaisaris is the project’s marketing director, and also teaches classes in A+. The site has launched, and is presently undergoing thorough beta testing by a handful of dedicated teachers.
